Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, development and analysis for specialty tooling and equipment using sound engineering principles and adhering to engineering standards, practices, procedures, and product requirements.
  • Develop Outage Servicing Tooling and Equipment of high complexity.
  • Demonstrate solid knowledge of Mechanical Design principles including expertise in areas such as; mechanical design, mechanical component design, structural design, welding, joint connections, and fabrication techniques.
  • Proactively communicate and deliver assignments on time.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risk.
  • Communicate technical details to fabricators through the generation of fabrication drawings, specifications, and direct communication.
  • Generate operational instructions for newly developed tools and equipment.
  • Contribute to the success of others by providing feedback and technical input during design reviews and verifications.
  • Provide mentorship to peers.
  • Provide emergent issue response to Field Services teams and Customers as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • At least 8 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering and/or machine design experience.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Able to obtain commercial nuclear site entry.
  • Able and willing to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally to other GE Vernova locations, vendors, and customer sites as necessary.
  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to U.S. export-controlled technology.

Desired Characteristics

  • Proficient in 3D CAD design and computer skills.
  • Experience in the development of equipment within the nuclear services sector, particularly with regards to services provided during a maintenance outage at BWR’s and PWR’s.
  • Familiarity with the following codes and standards: AISC, AWS, ASME BPVC, ASTM.
  • Solid understanding of the principles of Mechanical/Structural Design and Engineering.
  • Ability to troubleshoot improperly functioning equipment and implement the proper changes.
  • Ability to assess technical risk and devise suitable means to mitigate.
  • Familiarity with LEAN tools and principles.

Pay and Benefits

  • The pay range for this position is between $113,200.00 and $188,800.00.
