Senior Engineer
Duties
- Provide technical advice to industrial or managerial personnel regarding design, construction, or program modifications or structural repairs
- Perform field inspections and survey work to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety or sanitation standards
- Conduct feasibility studies for the construction of facilities, such as water supply systems and water treatment plants
- Affords assistance in the design of pumping and treatment systems, pumping stations, pipelines and mains
- Identify design alternatives for the development of new water resources
- Design water pumping stations
- Affords assistance in (typ.) design and permitting of new water wells
- Performs hydraulic analyses of water supply systems or water distribution networks to model flow characteristics, test for pressure losses, or to identify opportunities to mitigate risks and improve operational efficiency
- Gathers and analyzes water use data
- Designs water storage tanks or other water storage facilities
- Conducts cost-benefit analyses for the construction of water supply systems, water pumping systems and water treatment plants
- Reviews and critiques proposals, plans, or designs related to water systems
- Provides key input on GIS system as a part of a larger initiative to implement a comprehensive asset management system
- Affords assistance and response to questions of other engineering and operational personnel
- Mentors less experienced team members and displays leadership as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the water/wastewater industry and a Connecticut Professional Engineer (PE) license, or at least 15 years of progressively responsible water/wastewater experience
- Demonstrated project management experience
- Experience designing water and/or wastewater infrastructure
- Strong hydraulic analysis and engineering design skills
- Permitting experience preferred
- Working knowledge of GIS systems
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, including AutoCAD
- Proficiency with standard office software applications
Pay
Annual Salary
Grade 8 - Salary $ 80,700.00 - 145,300.00
