We’re looking for a Senior Engineer to lead cloud microservices implementation within the Services IT organization, supporting large-scale product order fulfillment. The In-Home Order Fulfillment (IHOF) team builds and maintains the application portfolio that enables scheduling of in-home delivery, installation, and repair services across all Best Buy selling channels. Our mission is to evolve modern, scalable platforms that power seamless customer experiences. You’ll drive the modernization from legacy systems to cloud-native, event-driven architectures, shaping resilient, observable, and cost-efficient solutions while leveraging data and automation to improve performance and delivery outcomes. We operate with a product mindset, embracing experimentation, rapid iteration, and engineering excellence.

This is a remote role, but you must live within a drivable distance to our corporate campus in Richfield, Minnesota. Work arrangements vary by team; details will be provided during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and architect features in a distributed CQRS, event-sourced, microservice architecture using Java Spring
  • Use Agentic AI as a core development and coding tool
  • Create and present technical designs
  • Lead the delivery of complex solutions
  • Actively participate in planning activities and contribute to strategic planning
  • Anticipate technical issues at the product level and make architectural decisions to avoid them
  • Lead and manage the triage of complex issues across systems in production and local environments
  • Demonstrate creativity and initiative in solving complex problems
  • Plan delivery of coarse-grained business needs spanning multiple applications
  • Influence technical peers outside the team by introducing new frameworks and patterns
  • Improve team effectiveness through code reviews, thorough documentation, technical guidance, and mentoring or serving as a Tech Lead
  • Work independently under project objectives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • 3+ years of experience as a Software Engineer or Software Developer
  • 2+ years of experience building event-driven architecture
  • 2+ years of experience with microservice patterns and event-driven design
  • 1+ years of experience with cloud-native development
  • Experience with application management and/or Agile product delivery
  • Experience developing solutions using testing and CI/CD automation tools
