Senior Service Engineer
About the role
The Senior Service Engineer at CloudFit Software is responsible for designing, deploying, and operating customer solutions that leverage a mix of commercial off-the-shelf, open-source, and cloud-native technologies. The role involves learning new technologies, interacting with clients, and adapting to meet evolving customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Design cloud-native solutions using Azure and AWS technologies
- Take accountability for past and future technical implementations, working to modernize and improve their capability to meet customer needs
- Grow professional skills regularly and quantifiably
- Transform customer business requirements into definable technological architecture
- Engage in company culture through active participation in regular meetings and customer reviews
- Apply and create company and industry best standards for software usage, system administration, and design, security, and network management
- Encourage and take accountability for reducing toil through automation
- Support the customer via on-call rotations for production workloads when required
- Adjust to the needs of the customer and project, while maintaining a culture of serving and gratitude
- Travel to support customers in air-gapped environments
Qualifications
- Strong infrastructure-as-code (IAC) skillset, and ability to create, document, and explain Bicep templates to team members
- Strong understanding of automation and DevOps principles, including familiarity with at least one tool, such as: Azure DevOps, GitLab, GitHub + Actions, Atlassian (Confluence/Jira), or similar.
- Proven experience and understanding of Azure platform, including compute (IaaS, App Service, containers, etc.), network, and data storage options (storage accounts, database, messaging, etc.)
- Experience with Kubernetes administration and app deployment, including concepts such as GitOps (via Flux, Argo, etc.), stateful sets, cluster networking, ingress controllers. Certified Kubernetes Administrator desirable, but not required.
- Understanding of and ability to create, demonstrate and explain cloud architecture designs to both colleagues and customers based on industry best-practice guidance (e.g. Microsoft’s Cloud Adoption Framework or similar)
- Understanding of and experience building enterprise cloud enclaves, including knowledge of hub/spoke networking, platform governance through Azure Policy, and least-privileges RBAC/IAM practices
- Experience with administering Linux and Windows systems via CLI such as Bash and/or PowerShell
- Understanding of source-code management tooling such as Git, as well as related concepts such as branching, merging, pull requests (PRs), etc.
- Desire to mentor other engineers on the above

Requirements
Current Federal Security Clearance or ability to obtain (US Citizenship required)
