Senior Engineer I - Applications

As an Application Engineer in the Security and Computing Group, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and improve embedded firmware for Secure Computing products. This role involves onboarding customers with secure Platform Root of Trust devices, providing technical expertise, handling customer clarifications, delivering technical demos, and resolving customer issues through the Salesforce ticketing system. You will also contribute to internal development efforts, test embedded firmware, work with multi-site teams, and develop customer application notes to support product adoption.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and improve embedded firmware for Secure Computing products.
- Assist in onboarding customers with secure Platform Root of Trust devices by providing technical expertise and guidance.
- Handle system understanding, hardware integration testing, system integration, and troubleshooting.
- Address customer clarifications, deliver technical demos, and present solutions to prospective and existing customers.
- Manage and resolve customer issues through the Salesforce ticketing system while ensuring timely communication and support.
- Contribute to internal development efforts related to secure Platform Root of Trust devices.
- Test embedded firmware for Secure Computing products.
- Work with multi-site cross-functional teams.
- Develop customer application notes to support product adoption.
- Use embedded debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, debuggers, and protocol analyzers.
- Deploy, verify, and validate embedded software products.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field with 5 to 7.5 years of experience in firmware development and testing for embedded systems, microprocessors, and microcontrollers.
- Strong proficiency in C programming in an embedded environment.
- Experience in writing scripts in Python.
- Experience with basic crypto and security algorithms is preferred.
- Experience with ARM Architecture, Linux, and command line build tools (preferred).
- Experience in Chromium EC firmware or Zephyr Project is preferred.
- Hands-on experience in deployment, verification, and validation of embedded software products.
- Familiarity with cross-platform development and debugging tools.
- Hands-on experience with Free RTOS or Zephyr RTOS is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Self-motivated, team player, capable of multitasking with excellent communication skills.
- Experience with I2C, SPI, or other networking and real-time content streaming protocols.
- Knowledge of MPLAB/KIEL IDE and toolchains is a plus.
- Experience in Security, Azure platform, and IoT platform is preferable.
- Candidate with education from reputed institutes and good academic records is preferred.

Pay
The annual base salary range for this position is $70,304 - $205,000, dependent on job location, skills, and experience. Microchip offers a total compensation package that includes competitive base pay, restricted stock units, and quarterly bonus payments.
