Senior Electronic Healthcare Systems Analyst – Home Care Home Base

About the role

The Senior Electronic Healthcare Systems Analyst is a superuser of Home Care Home Base (HCHB) for hospice and knowledgeable of efficiencies and best practices in HCHB for hospice programs. They ensure timely implementation of compliance and regulatory requirements in the EHR and software systems utilized for hospice. This role acts as a liaison between EHR and clinical software vendors (internal and external) for the hospice team, coordinates and delegates work within the department relating to software education, and collaborates with other service lines for symbiotic EHR needs and best practices.

This position communicates with appropriate management and leadership regarding enhancements, provides regular reports on key EHR metrics, analyzes efficiencies in documentation, and works with clinical leadership, the hospice quality team, and field clinicians for continuous improvement. The role ensures compliance with operating policies, procedures, and outside regulatory requirements while meeting imposed deadlines for submissions.

Responsibilities

• Participates on EHR committees and message boards, acting as an advocate for improved hospice EHR.
• Ensures timely and accurate completion of tasks required to meet regulatory requirement changes.
• Develops, builds, and maintains EHR forms, notes, visits, and pathways to reflect current needs and regulatory requirements.
• Assesses education needs, skills, competencies, behaviors, and outcomes required for staff to improve performance, meet strategic objectives, and achieve desired results; develops plans to address uncovered needs.
• Provides training in EHR processes relevant to team members' work to ensure optimal, efficient care.
• Assesses the overall effectiveness of orientation and education/training programs; designs methodology to obtain regular feedback from participants.
• Develops standardized written teaching materials for clinicians and internal team members, including tablet training manuals and how-to guides.
• Analyzes and reviews the EHR database to develop improved documentation flow for clinical care and regulatory compliance.
• Acts as a resource to clinicians for EHR documentation and training; serves as a superuser of EHR.
• Identifies and implements special or new quality improvement activities regarding EHR or management of equipment as agency needs are identified.
• Stays up to date on the latest issues and trends in systems requirements and enhancements for hospice through networking, professional memberships, and ongoing EHR education.
• Synthesizes trends and determines their application and integration into the department; oversees the development of EHR educational programs addressing these trends.
• Coordinates and collaborates with third-party vendor activities related to EHR and equipment management.
• Coordinates and collaborates with other VNS service lines related to EHR.
• Reviews documentation regarding software updates, plans for and assures completion of education, and implements process changes to take full advantage of software applications.
• Recognizes and identifies ongoing needs for professional growth and development; assists Hospice leadership in training staff in EHR systems to meet those needs.
• Tracks data related to employee competence and use of standard best practice protocols; reports results to the Director of Hospice QAPI for performance improvement projects.
• Leads implementation education of new software in the field.
• Ensures all regulatory and compliance updates are implemented by required dates.
• Performs all duties inherent in a supervisory role, including evaluating staff performance, providing input for department budget development, and hiring, orienting, promoting, and terminating staff.
• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Health and Human Services, Public Health, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working with clinicians for EHR support.
• Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in health care, with at least three (3) years focused in Hospice.
• Knowledge of HCHB operating system for hospice is required; pathway building access required.
• Demonstrated experience provisioning devices and configuring Home Care Home Base (HCHB) for new users and ongoing operational support.
• Knowledge of other community-based hospice software systems such as Parachute, Tiger Connect, SHP, or Mosai preferred.
• Practical knowledge in leading and managing the execution of processes, projects, and tactics, as well as hospice industry practices and standards.

Licenses and Certifications

• Home Care Home Base (HCHB) coursework required.

Pay

USD $77,200.00 - USD $96,500.00 per year.
