Key Responsibilities
- Generate conceptual, fabrication, and assembly drawings for custom RF and electro-mechanical products
- Publish and release fabrication and assembly drawings to support manufacturing and assembly operations
- Execute daily design and drafting activities, including RF PCB layout, module design, and chassis/rack layout and detailing
- Develop designs using tools such as AutoCAD (ACAD), PADS, Autodesk Inventor, or related software
- Release completed designs and Bills of Materials (BOMs/BPXs) to sourcing and manufacturing teams
- Maintain and oversee document control processes in compliance with ISO 9001:2015 standards
- Input and manage design data within ERP systems
- Interface with sheet metal fabrication vendors to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability
- Collaborate with customers on all mechanical-related topics, including chassis and rack layouts
- Work closely with Planning and Material Control departments regarding BOM and drawing releases
- Ensure designs meet applicable military and commercial fabrication and assembly standards
- Support prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting activities as needed
Qualifications
- AAS in Mechanical Drawing or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 7+ years of experience in electro-mechanical design, preferably in RF or related industries
- Strong proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, PADS, Autodesk Inventor, or similar platforms
- Experience with RF PCB layout, module design, and enclosure (chassis/rack) development
- Working knowledge of military and commercial drawing and fabrication standards
- Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 document control requirements and ERP systems
- Experience interfacing with fabrication vendors, especially sheet metal shops
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience with DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturability/Assembly)
- Knowledge of PLM/PDM systems
- Background in defense, aerospace, or communications industries
- Ability to mentor junior designers and contribute to process improvements
