Senior Electrical Project Manager – Data Center Construction

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage electrical aspects of Data Center construction projects, ensuring projects are delivered according to specifications, on schedule, and within budget.
• Act as the primary point of contact for all electrical-related matters, maintaining effective communication with clients, contractors, consultants, engineers, and other stakeholders.
• Review and approve electrical designs, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and regulations, while meeting client requirements for reliability, scalability, and energy efficiency.
• Develop and manage electrical budgets, estimates, and schedules, and provide regular progress reports to stakeholders. Identify and address any potential budget or timeline deviations.
• Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to electrical systems, design, procurement, and construction. Implement strategies to resolve issues and avoid delays.
• Cook up and coordinate with cross-functional teams, including civil, mechanical, and structural engineers, to ensure the seamless integration of electrical systems within the overall project scope.
• Ensure all electrical installations and systems meet or exceed quality standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices. Oversee inspections, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.
• Manage subcontractors and electrical vendors, ensuring timely and quality performance. Review and approve submittals, change orders, and progress payments.
• Oversee commissioning processes, including system testing, troubleshooting, and final system turnover to the client. Ensure thorough documentation and operational manuals are provided.
• Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to electrical systems for Data Centers and apply innovative solutions to improve project outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PE) a plus.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical project management, with a focus on Data Center construction or similar large-scale critical infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems design, installation, and commissioning for mission-critical environments, including power distribution, backup power systems (UPS, generators), switchgear, and lighting.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project), as well as electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools).
• In-depth knowledge of electrical codes, standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA), and industry best practices for Data Center electrical systems.
• Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proven track record of overcoming challenges on complex projects.
• PMP, PE, or other relevant certifications are highly preferred.
• Ability to travel to the project site as required.
