Senior Electrical Project Engineer

Description

The Electrical Project Engineer is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and executing capital engineering projects within specific project scopes and target schedules. Key responsibilities include:

• Planning and coordinating detailed design engineering for approved capital projects.
• Maintaining technical oversight during project procurement and vendor/contractor management.
• Providing technical assistance throughout the design, execution, and commissioning phases of capital projects.
• Ensuring all projects comply with applicable regulatory codes (OSHA, IEEE, NFPA, NEC, etc.).
• Coordinating with external resources to support operational improvements.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, candidates should have:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience in industrial manufacturing, with a preference for experience in the Pulp & Paper industry.
• Experience in project management, including PMP certification (though not required).
• Exceptional trouble-shooting skills and a strong continuous improvement mindset.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal skills for building relationships and resolving conflicts.
• Experience with JDE, drafting and CAD (AutoCAD), and knowledge of power distribution systems, process instrumentation systems, process design, distributed control systems, programmable logic controllers, coordinated drive systems, variable speed AC and DC drives, low and medium voltage motor control centers, safety and environmental compliance, short circuit, arc flash, and load calculations, and familiarity with EasyPower or ETAP.
