Senior Electrical Power Engineer
About the role
The power generation market is growing and evolving due to strong capacity demand signals. Our national Power Generation team is poised for significant growth and is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support our clients in developing, contracting, and implementing natural gas and potentially renewable energy generation projects. The role involves working as an Owner’s Engineer and/or Advisor.
Responsibilities
- Lead teams for power generation design projects including supporting in a traditional Owner’s Engineering role.
- Experience with simple cycle and combined cycle power generation.
- Support in managing client relationships.
- Lead marketing activities including proposal technical writing, fee builds, and work breakdown structure development in response to requests for proposals.
- Mentor young engineers.
- Direct the activities of other engineering professionals.
- Work with Project Manager and Project Controller on project reviews with management as needed.
- Manage less than 10% travel for meetings with clients and vendors as well as project site visits.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program with an Electrical Power emphasis.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in electrical power generation design.
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Control Systems Engineering with an Electrical Power emphasis preferred.
- Professional Engineers (PE or P.Eng) license.
- Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience.
Skills
- Significant level of design and engineer of record work experience with power plant systems.
- Excellent communication, written, and organizational skills.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to work independently, as a lead on a multi-discipline consulting team, or as a lead on a small team.
- Extensive knowledge of three-phase electrical power, protection and control design and settings development, system grounding, physical design, and experience with other activities such as lighting and grounding design, including instrumentation and control and life safety systems.

Pay
The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location. The targeted salary range for this position (based on experience and location) is $108,661 - $204,250.
