Senior Electrical Field Technician
About the role
The Senior Electrical Field Technician position is primarily based on travel or extended time at client sites, requiring extensive experience in the utility, industrial, or power generation industries.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret electrical drawings to implement changes and create field red-lines.
- Provide supervision and guidance to on-site electricians to ensure work or modifications are carried out according to engineering plans.
- Work closely with the engineering team to make necessary changes and updates in the field.
- Communicate effectively with clients and other stakeholders regarding project progress and issues.
- Ensure adherence to industry best practices for electrical installations, wiring, terminations, and field red-lines.
- Use industry-standard test equipment such as circuit breakers, protection relays, low and medium voltage power transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, motors, potential and current transformers, power quality/multimeter, megger, hi-pot, and Doble relay test set.
Requirements
- Excellent communication, written, and organizational skills.
- Strong knowledge of industry best practices for electrical installations, wiring, terminations, field red-lines, and other relevant areas.
- Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and provide clear directions to craft labor.
- Field experience with various types of power plants including coal, hydro, simple cycle, and combined cycle power plants.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of the following equipment: circuit breakers, protection relays, low and medium voltage power transformers, switchgear and motor control centers, motors, potential and current transformers.
- Experience with the following test equipment: power quality/multimeter, megger, hi-pot, and Doble relay test set.
