Senior Electrical Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive, and comprehensive estimates for commercial, institutional, industrial, and infrastructure electrical projects. This role will manage estimates from initial bid review through submission and project turnover while supporting project planning, risk identification, and continuous improvement of estimating processes.

Responsibilities

• Review plans, specifications, addenda, schedules, contracts, and other bid documents to determine complete electrical scope.
• Perform detailed material and labor takeoffs for commercial and industrial electrical projects.
• Estimate lighting, power distribution, switchgear, generators, fire alarm, low-voltage systems, site electrical work, underground infrastructure, and related systems.
• Analyze labor requirements, material and equipment costs, subcontractor/vendor pricing, project schedules, and site conditions.
• Solicit, evaluate, and compare vendor and subcontractor proposals.
• Identify exclusions, clarifications, alternates, allowances, value-engineering opportunities, and potential project risks.
• Prepare complete bid proposals, scope letters, and supporting documentation.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, bid reviews, and project planning meetings.
• Coordinate with leadership on project approach, staffing, overhead, fees, and bid strategy.
• Maintain strong relationships with general contractors, vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, engineers, and industry partners.
• Track bid results and compare estimated costs with actual project performance.
• Support project turnover by clearly communicating scope, assumptions, risks, and key cost considerations to project management and field operations.
• Assist with change-order estimates and cost evaluations when needed.
• Maintain organized estimating files, historical pricing, cost data, bid records, templates, labor units, and estimating procedures.
• Monitor labor rates, material pricing, supply-chain conditions, market trends, and other factors affecting project costs.
• Review other estimators' work and provide training, guidance, and mentorship.
• Identify appropriate bid opportunities and support the pursuit of profitable, strategically aligned projects.

Requirements

• 5+ years of electrical construction estimating, project management, or related experience.
• Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical construction methods, materials, labor requirements, and sequencing.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, one-line diagrams, schedules, contracts, and technical documents.
• Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable construction standards.
• Proven experience with detailed electrical takeoffs and multimillion-dollar project estimates.
• Knowledge of lighting, power distribution, switchgear, emergency power, fire alarm, low-voltage systems, and underground electrical work.
• Proficiency with electrical estimating software, digital takeoff programs, Microsoft Excel, and standard business applications.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates, deadlines, and competing priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with leadership, project managers, field personnel, vendors, and customers.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, integrity, and accountability.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites and pre-bid meetings as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, business, or a related field.
• Journeyman or electrical contractor license.
• Electrical construction field experience.
• Experience with design-build and design-assist projects.
• Experience estimating medium-voltage systems, sports lighting, airfield lighting, directional drilling, underground infrastructure, or prefabricated electrical assemblies.
• Experience leading or mentoring estimators and developing estimating procedures.
• Established relationships with general contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors in the regional market.
