Principal Responsibilities
- Lead electrical system design efforts for moderate to complex building projects
- Develop detailed designs, specifications, and calculations using engineering software and tools in accordance with code requirements and IMEG standards
- Perform site assessments and prepare detailed technical analyses and reports
- Partner with clients to define project needs, gather requirements, and communicate technical recommendations clearly
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through professional, responsive communication
- Review electrical designs, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence during production and apply IMEG quality control processes
- Train, mentor, and motivate staff while supporting team development
- Provide technical assistance to help resolve field issues with limited support from senior staff
- Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and electrical engineering best practices, and contribute to research and innovation efforts
- Prioritize safety, identify and mitigate electrical system risks, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions and support interviews and presentations
Required Qualifications And Skills
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required
- Professional Engineer (PE) License required
- 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
- Adept in the technical aspects of one’s discipline; advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems
- Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
- Advanced proficiency of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS; Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
- Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others
- Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
- Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
- Strong training and mentoring skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays
