Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and development of complex products, equipment, or processes; perform schematic capture and support PCB layout activities, including coordination with external layout providers.
- Design and develop cable assemblies, wiring harnesses, and electrical interconnect solutions for complex hardware systems.
- Define connector selection, shielding strategies, grounding schemes, and EMI mitigation approaches.
- Integrate electrical subsystems and verify proper functionality at the system level.
- Develop detailed specifications, schematics, assembly drawings, and bills of materials; support preparation of subsystem performance requirements.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues during lab, test, and system integration activities.
- Support EMI/EMC compliance efforts including MIL-STD-461 testing and troubleshooting.
- Support environmental qualification efforts, including MIL-STD-810 test planning and test execution support.
- Perform signal integrity, power distribution, and load analysis to validate system performance.
- Use electrical design and documentation tools to create schematics, wiring diagrams, and integration documentation.
- Evaluate prototypes, analyze test results, and translate findings into design updates.
- Conduct experiments to characterize product performance; perform troubleshooting and testing for project-level issues.
- Evaluate and select components, materials, and design approaches based on electrical, environmental, and reliability requirements.
- Support DFM and DFT considerations during design and integration.
- Conduct testing and analysis of electrical systems and implement design improvements based on results.
- Collaborate with mechanical, systems, manufacturing, and test engineering teams to ensure seamless product integration.
- Support manufacturing and field investigations, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Provide technical support to internal stakeholders and external customers.
- Participate in project planning activities and support execution to meet schedule, cost, and performance targets.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes, documentation, and product performance.
- Ability to learn and follow PCB layout, analyze the resulting PCB design using ANSYS & Mentor Graphics SI/HFSS tools for potential signal integrity and power integrity issues, interference and coupling issues, and perform 3D EMI analysis.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent scientific discipline with 5 or more years of experience to be proficient in the above areas or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Electrical or Electronic degree preferred.
- Incumbents must possess intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.
Skills And Abilities
- Proficient experience with one or more major ECAD tool suites such as: Mentor Graphics Expedition / EDM, Cadence Altium ESA.
- Ability to function and effectively communicate in a dynamic integrated product team environment, supporting a variety of different programs.
- Experienced in current electronic manufacturing processes and methods, and compact/high density electronic and component packaging techniques and methods.
