Senior Electrical Engineer - Mission Critical (Newton, Morristown, Wallingford)

This role is specifically within the Mission Critical team, which focuses on designing and managing electrical systems for mission-critical, healthcare, and industrial sites.
Responsibilities
- Solve complex electrical design problems, adapting and modifying standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Lead design, planning, and client coordination activities for high, medium, and low voltage electrical distribution and control systems.
- Design electrical systems and equipment to ensure reliability and uptime, meeting client requirements for mission-critical environments.
- Advise clients on electrical systems and requirements, ensuring compliance with applicable codes.
- Maintain oversight of installed equipment/systems to ensure adherence to design documents.
- Conduct fault studies and load flow analysis to support design criteria for protective device coordination and relay applications.
- Develop electrical master plans for various facility components such as power distribution, motor control centers, lighting systems, HVAC controls, and UPS systems.
- Review and provide direction on electrical design for multi-disciplinary projects, including developing concept studies and narratives.
- Manage resources and delegate tasks to team members to execute design work effectively.
- Perform quality reviews on detailed engineering documents and specifications.
- Travel as needed to manage projects and coordinate with clients.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program, with 7+ years of electrical engineering experience.
- EPC project experience preferred.
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with 6+ years of electrical engineering experience, or a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with successful completion of the FE exam and 7+ years of experience.
- Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures, strong understanding of ANSI and IEEE standards, and strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to lead design teams, and strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
