About the role

IMEG is a leading design consulting firm with over 2500 employees across the United States. We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer/Designer for our Minneapolis, MN office. This role involves leading design efforts, mentoring, and training for less experienced staff.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design efforts for analysis of electrical systems, using engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards.
  • Perform site assessments and generate detailed analysis and technical reports.
  • Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively.
  • Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication.
  • Provide in-process design reviews of electrical system design, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence.
  • Implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards, and client requirements.
  • Train, mentor, and motivate staff.
  • Contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG.
  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.
  • Participate in project interviews and project presentations.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Adept in the technical aspects of one’s discipline; advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI).
  • Advanced proficiency of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS.
  • Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others.
  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise.
  • Ability to sell work and develop client relationships.
  • Strong training and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required.
  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry.

Physical Requirements

  • Sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull.
  • Have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises.

Salary Range

$112,000 - $170,000. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
