Principal Responsibilities
- Lead design efforts for the analysis of building electrical systems for moderate to complex projects
- Develop detailed electrical designs, specifications, and calculations per code requirements and IMEG standards using engineering software and tools
- Perform site assessments and produce detailed analysis and technical reports
- Partner with clients to gather requirements, communicate technical information, and maintain strong working relationships
- Provide in-process design reviews (design, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence) and apply IMEG quality control processes
- Provide technical assistance to help resolve field issues with limited support from senior staff
- Train, mentor, and motivate staff to support performance and development
- Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies; contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG
- Prioritize safety in all engineering work; identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with electrical systems
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals
- Participate in project interviews and project presentations
Required Qualifications And Skills
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required
- Professional Engineer (PE) License required
- 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
- Adept in the technical aspects of one’s discipline; advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems
- Advanced proficiency of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS; Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
- Able to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others
- Able to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
- Able to sell work and develop client relationships
- Strong training and mentoring skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
- Able to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Able to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays
