Senior Electrical Engineer - Buildings

About the role

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services team in Maumee, OH. This position will oversee designer work, provide team technical leadership, perform quality reviews of design packages, and assist directly with the more complex portions of the design process. The role also involves resolving electrical project-related issues, motivating teams, identifying problems, recommending improvements, and contributing to department, division, and corporate goals.

Our electrical engineers work on a wide range of projects, including power generation and distribution (low to medium voltage), lighting systems, fire alarms, security, and access control systems for advanced manufacturing, office buildings, complex warehouses, renewable energy, and other national clients.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) by performing peer reviews, QA/QC on projects prior to submission, and coordinating with supervisors or electrical department leaders.
• Prepare effective work plans and man-hour budgets for approval.
• Oversee the quality control/quality assurance process on all assigned projects.
• Participate in formulating and coordinating proposals and provide marketing support, including business development.
• Mentor junior staff in sound technical and business practices to enhance corporate objectives.
• Verify that all design aspects comply with local codes and apply code provisions.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to provide a coordinated design.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (required).
• 12–15+ years of electrical engineering design experience in building electrical systems (required).
• Licensed Professional Engineer in Ohio (required).
• Solid working knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC) and IEEE standards.
• Proficiency in Revit, AGI Lighting, and power studies software (SKM, EasyPower, ETAP).
• Extensive design experience with electrical power system equipment/components, such as switchgear, transformers, panelboards, generators, and grounding.
• Experience collaborating with architects, engineers, and contractors to deliver coordinated designs.
• Experience leading mid-sized and large projects.
• Willingness to travel to client locations as needed.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English for job-related communications and instructions.
