Job Description
The Senior Electrical Engineer is a member of a Product Development team which is focused on developing next generation products for the Targeted Temperature Management Business Unit. Key to this role is having significant depth and experience as an electrical engineer, as well as breadth covering the areas of clinical / medical applications.
The goals of this team include the development of capital and consumable devices that incorporate electromechanical enhancements and sensors that can disrupt existing spaces or open new ones in medication delivery, management, safety, and medical procedures.
Responsibilities
- Leading electrical engineering and system design
- Developing complex electro-mechanical medical devices and supporting projects in all phases, from technology development through commercialization
- Designing electronics hardware and firmware following good engineering practices and applicable standards for medical devices
- Systems integration
- Designing instrumentation and front-end analog sensor electronics
- Signal conditioning, modeling
- Test and analysis of complex analog circuits and mixed signal circuits
- Schematic capture
- EMC, safety, manufacturability
- FDA guidelines on design and manufacturing of the medical devices
- RF Design
- Data collection systems
- PCB layout particularly mixed circuit layout
- Hardware products in a regulated environment
- Common risk management techniques (FMEA, FTA, ETA)
- Electrical engineering development tools
- Phase Gated Product Development process
- Integration with analog/digital signal processing, electrical/electronic systems, software and optical systems
- Modeling, simulations, and sensitivity analyses
Qualifications
- B.S in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Masters or PhD is preferred
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience with the development of complex electronic circuits
- Analog circuit design, signal conditioning, modeling
- Test and analysis of complex analog circuits and mixed signal circuits
- Experience in schematic capture
- Design for EMC, safety, manufacturability
- FDA guidelines on design and manufacturing of the medical devices
- RF Design
- Data collection systems
- PCB layout particularly mixed circuit layout
- Experience developing hardware products in a regulated environment
- Expertise in common risk management techniques (FMEA, FTA, ETA)
- Proficiency with state of the art electrical engineering development tools is required
- Experience developing hardware products in a Phase Gated Product Development process
- Ability to work with other functions and facilitate activities from a systems integration perspective
- Expertise in development of cross-functional systems
- Experience in modeling, simulations, and sensitivity analyses desired
