Senior Electrical Engineer
About the role
Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer - Hardware Design to join our team. The position involves creating unique solutions for complex problems in the defense, space, cyber, and commercial fields. The ideal candidate will work in a fast-paced, small team environment, executing from concept development to manufacturing, qualification testing, and post-delivery support.
Responsibilities
- Architect, implement, and test printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) including power supply, mixed-signal, FPGA, and microcontroller designs.
- Partner with other engineers, project managers, technicians, and customers to develop solutions that adhere to diverse requirements.
- Support resolution of technical issues during manufacture and test of deliverable products, including troubleshooting board-level issues, assessing failures for root cause, and identifying corrective actions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET-accredited institution.
- 8+ years experience in electronics design and test from architecture through implementation.
- Advanced knowledge of digital/analog/mixed signal electronics, components, and interface/communication standards.
- Expertise in digital PCB design and troubleshooting including embedded processor, microcontroller, or FPGA-based designs.
- Proven experience in design, test, troubleshooting, and manufacture of complex multi-layer electronic circuit card assemblies.
- Hands-on laboratory experience with instrumentation, test equipment, and debug/test methods.
- Experience with technical problem solving and root cause analysis.
- Ability to decompose system-level considerations (i.e., requirements) to lower design levels.
- Demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET-accredited university.
- Experience and/or working knowledge of multiple high-speed serial communication standards and memory interfaces (e.g., GigE, 10 GigE, Aurora, DDR2, DDR3, DDR4, JESD204B, PCIe, SATA).
- Experience with high-speed design analysis tools such as HyperLynx.
- Experience with Rigid-flex, microvia, blind via, and buried via printed circuit board design.
- Experience with switched-mode power supply (SMPS) design.
- Experience with Siemens electrical engineering development tools (formerly Mentor Graphics) and Altium electrical engineering development tools.
Security Requirements
- US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain a Secret Clearance.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this role is $107,900.00 - $195,050.00. Additional factors such as responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law, are considered in extending offers.
