About the role
The Senior Electrical Engineer leads the design, development, and execution of multi-disciplinary projects for space and defense products and systems. This role involves consulting with the Principal Electrical Engineer and company leadership on resource needs, managing departmental growth, and mentoring junior engineers.
Responsibilities
- Performs lead role in electrical design, development, test, analysis, manufacturing, and execution of multi-disciplinary projects
- Generates robust designs considering ESD, EMI, and other challenging environments
- Creates and reviews complete drawing packages of electrical designs for manufacturing, cost, and quality assurance
- Led prototyping, hardware assembly, development testing, and product qualification
- Performs required calculations and generates comprehensive circuit analysis reports
- Takes a leading role in the management of departmental growth and other electrical tools
- Participates in candidate assessments and supports other hiring activities
- Supports technical proposals, quick-turn concept design, and presentation efforts
- Mentor and resource for more junior engineers and helps conduct performance reviews
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
- Significant experience in aerospace, defense, and/or avionics
- Detailed knowledge of military specifications and industry standards including IPC
- Proven experience in designing robust hardware that has undergone qualification testing
- Advanced experience with circuit simulations tools such as PSPICE and LTSPICE
- Advanced experience with testing/troubleshooting techniques
- Advanced experience with schematic capture, PCB layout and routing, and circuit board design principles using Altium Designer or similar
- Proficient experience developing automated test equipment apparatuses
- Experience utilizing serial communication protocols (RS-422, RS-485, MIL-STD-1553, etc.) and developing serial communication hardware/software
- Familiarity with C/C++, C#, Python, Matlab (Verilog and VHDL are a plus)
- Self-motivated, ability to multi-task, work independently on assignments with minimal oversight or direction, quality-oriented and safety conscious
- Able to track overall goals while focusing on details
- Possesses strong electrical aptitude as well as creativity in solving problems
