About the role
Johnson Controls, a global leader in thermal management, mission-critical building systems, energy efficiency, and decarbonization, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for its New Freedom, PA, location. This position involves overseeing the electrical performance of air- and water-cooled chillers components and systems, supporting various teams globally, and participating in new projects.
Responsibilities
- Investigates and analyzes product design proposals on electrical power panels, control panels, variable speed drives, and wire harnesses in accordance with UL, NEC, CSA, and CE codes, then recommends solutions
- Proficient in electrical design and able to conceptualize and implement design ideas into the product
- Proficient at preparing, checking, and coordinating the release of documentation to support designs
- Responsible for technical direction to application engineers, designers, factory operations, product marketing, and product technical service
- Responsible for the accurate completion of projects
- Continuously increases expertise in all aspects of chiller electrical design, theory, construction, operation, and applications
- Proficient at selecting the most suitable electrical components
- Uses standard and sophisticated technical and mathematical principles, theories, concepts, techniques, processes, and standard methodologies in the field
- Strives for continuous improvement and teamwork in a global product development and process environment
- Responsible for engineering drawings including electrical schematics, and bills of materials
- Adheres to the Company’s Code of Conduct and Business Ethics standards
Requirements
- BS in Electrical Engineering or related field; minimum of 4 years’ experience
- 5+ years of professional experience
- PREFERRED: Crafting industrial products (engineer to order, applied, or ‘made to order’ environments)
- PREFERRED: Understanding of chiller controls
- PREFERRED: Familiarity with HVAC Systems and motor-driven mechanical engineering design and test
- PREFERRED: Experience with mechanical systems and material resource planning (MRP) software
- PREFERRED: Experience applying regulatory codes such as UL, NEC, CSA, and CE codes
