About the role
IMEG is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer in Boston, Massachusetts, to lead design efforts for moderate to complex building projects and support delivery of larger, high-complexity work with limited senior staff support.
Principal Responsibilities
- Lead analysis and design of electrical systems for building projects using engineering software and tools to develop detailed designs, specifications, and calculations in accordance with code requirements and IMEG standards
- Perform site assessments and prepare detailed analyses and technical reports
- Partner with clients to understand needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information clearly and effectively
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through professional communication
- Conduct in-process reviews of electrical system designs, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence
- Apply IMEG quality control processes to ensure engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards, and client requirements
- Train, mentor, and motivate staff
- Provide technical support to help resolve field issues with limited support from senior staff
- Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG
- Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work by identifying and mitigating potential risks associated with electrical systems
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals and client expectations
- Participate in project interviews and presentations
Required Qualifications And Skills
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required
- Professional Engineer (PE) License required
- 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
- Adept in the technical aspects of one’s discipline; advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems
- Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
- Advanced proficiency of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS; Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
- Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others
- Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
- Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
- Strong training and mentoring skills
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays
