Senior Electrical Engineer
About the role
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team. This role plays a crucial part in designing the critical infrastructure that supports the digital age and shapes the spaces where people work, connect, and thrive.
Responsibilities
- Cook up the work of Electrical Engineers with the balance of a multidiscipline team throughout the entire project's development
- Build strong client relationships and participate in marketing, design, and production meetings regarding electrical systems
- Take charge of many projects and be the electrical lead
- Join in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance
- Conduct schematic, design development, and contract document work sessions at the project site in collaboration with the Project Manager, Project Architect, and other disciplines
- Manage workload throughout the project development to ensure documents are completed on time
- Keep track of the financial aspects of projects and coordinate and adjust the work effort with the team to ensure the work is completed within the agreed-upon schedule
- Participate in project reviews with corporate management as needed
- Guide the activities of other electrical engineering professionals and act as a mentor to other staff members as needed
- Perform other duties as needed
Requirements
- Strong preference given to candidates with water/wastewater experience
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
- Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desired
- Minimum of 10 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)
- Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
- Extensive knowledge of building electrical power, lighting, and signal design, including life safety systems and building management systems
- Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD, and electrical design software
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
- Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license

Pay
The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
This role is full-time and works a standard 40-hour week.
Business Class
This role is part of the Building Electrical group within HDR.
Primary Location
The primary location for this role is United States-Michigan-Ann Arbor.
