Senior Electrical Engineer
About the role
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team. This role involves coordinating with a multidisciplinary team, establishing client relations, and participating in project reviews with various governing agencies.
Responsibilities
- Cook up the work of Electrical Engineers with the balance of a multidiscipline team throughout the entire project's development
- Establish client relations, and participate in the marketing, design and production meetings with regard to electrical systems
- Take the electrical lead on many projects
- Participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance
- Conduct schematic, design development and contract document work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager, Project Architect and other disciplines
- Coordinate workload through the entire project development to complete documents on schedule
- Track the financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust the work effort with the team to ensure that the work is completed within the parameters of the agreed-upon schedule
- Work with the Project Manager and Regional Controller for project reviews with corporate management as needed
- Direct the activities of other electrical engineering professionals, and act as a mentor to other staff members as needed
- Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Previous experience with an engineering consulting firm
- Experience in Transit System Design Management and/or Project Management
- Experience as Traction Power Supply and Distribution Design Engineer for Rail Transit Systems
- Project work experience which includes Power Supply and Distribution Design for Electrified Bus, Streetcar, Light Rail, Heavy Rail, Commuter Rail and High Speed Rail Projects operating on Overhead Contact or Third Rail Systems
- Design work including Power Supply Station Design, Equipment sizing and protection, Utility Supply, System Feeders and Returns, Traction Power Distribution Systems, Grounding etc.
- Ability to work in both Home Office and undertake short term travel to Cities installing or planning to install Electrified Transit Systems
- Preference is given to local candidates
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
- A minimum of 10 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)
- Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered
