Requirements
- Masters degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related
- Five (5) years of experience in low voltage (LV) and medium voltage (MV) electrical components within the wind energy industry.
- Five (5) years of experience reviewing electrical components for compliance and certification to international codes and standards including: IEC, UL, NEC and IEEE;
- Five (5) years of experience applying the following methodologies to wind turbine electrical components: design for six-sigma (certification not required), design for reliability, design for manufacturability, and design to cost;
- Product Lifetime Management (PLM) system;
- Design tools to include: ePlan, and Unigraphics/NX.
Responsibilities
- Develop 3D models, Bills of Material (BOMs), assembly drawings, and specifications for multiple electrical components including transformer and power cable.
- Translate wind turbine electrical system requirements into hardware and components definition.
- Support the full lifecycle of the transformer and power cables from concept to production to field operation.
- Host and complete internal reviews for the new product development.
- Support supply chain, wind turbine manufacturing and field operations for power systems.
- Support the build and test of prototype equipment both at supplier shops and wind turbines.
- Ensure compliance and support certification of the components to UL, CSA, CCC and CE directives as required by markets.
- Work with global and cross functional teams to leverage best practice for electrical power systems components design and testing.
- Support root cause analysis on technical issues.
- Support Sourcing organization on new supplier qualification.
- Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
