Principal Responsibilities

  • Cook up and oversee projects of varying sizes and complexities
  • Help Project Executives and Client Executives with scope of work and fee calculations for proposals and contract reviews
  • Create project schedules with milestones and deadlines
  • Act as the main point of contact for teams and clients
  • Generate monthly billings and submit financial information to Accounting in a timely manner
  • Update billing projections and estimated completion percentages for all projects monthly
  • Ensure designs adhere to owner standards and requirements, IMEG standards, and codes
  • Achieve design milestone deliverables, complete IMEG and client quality control processes, and provide timely construction technical support
  • Coordinate with design staff and schedule projects throughout all phases of design and construction
  • Schedule and lead progress meetings and document them
  • Visit construction sites and provide necessary documentation
  • Handle client/construction concerns and obtain approvals for change orders
  • Train, mentor, and motivate staff

Required Qualifications And Skills

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, minimum 7 years of experience, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry OR Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering, minimum 11 years of experience, 12 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry
  • Advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills, including principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems
  • Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference materials such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
  • Advanced proficiency in Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS; Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
  • Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others
  • Ability to perform final quality control checks in their area of expertise
  • Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
  • Strong training and mentoring skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays
