About the role

Colliers Engineering & Design is a trusted provider of multi-discipline engineering and architecture, design, and consulting services to public and private sector clients. We specialize in civil/site, architecture, transportation, survey/geospatial, infrastructure, governmental, geotechnical/environmental, telecommunications, utilities/energy, and project management. Our electrical engineers deliver customized solutions for power generation & distribution, lighting systems, fire alarms, security and access control systems, and green building design. Competencies span voltage classes from 120V to 765kV, including generating plant and substation design, relay and protection upgrades, Power System Studies, renewable design and interconnection, distribution system upgrades, water/wastewater system designs, and building electrical upgrades.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and detail plans by analyzing sketches, notes, and other input material to determine the best approach for completing drawings.
  • Produce computer-generated graphs, charts, overlays, and isometric drawings, including digital terrain models and surfaces, from sketches.
  • Calculate quantity takeoffs and prepare cost estimates.
  • Perform high-level design computations, earthwork calculations, and prepare complete construction plans.
  • Determine and calculate stormwater drainage areas and steep slope areas.
  • Prepare concept layout plans.
  • Perform advanced grading, utility, stormwater, and soil erosion/sediment control design.
  • Conform to company standard CADD procedures for layering and standard drawing procedures for sheet layout.
  • Work with project teams to assist in project completion.
  • Coordinate details and dimensions between drawing sheets.
  • Prepare project exhibits.
  • Address assignments of increased difficulty as proficiency is increased.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or certification from a technical school.
  • Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology or related field.
  • 8–10+ years of experience as an Electrical Designer with a focus on power, lighting, and fire alarm design.
  • Proficiency in REVIT, CAD, and AGI Lighting Software.
  • Ability to research code provisions, products, and material information.
  • Ability to coordinate information exchange between clients, project managers, and project teams.
  • Strong multitasking skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for job-related communications and instructions.

Pay

$78,500 to $104,400 per year (depending on qualifications).
