About the role
The Senior Electrical Designer will design power systems primarily for heavy industrial facilities, oil, gas & chemical projects. Responsibilities include complete electrical designs performed at the drawing level, assisting the engineering team, and providing quality control reviews.
Responsibilities
- Apply knowledge of building systems (conceptual design)
- Work with building/facility owners to utilize appropriate systems/products
- Design lighting, power distribution, panelboard schedules, grounding/protection designs
- Coordinate connections of all power utilization
- Document calculations for code compliance
- Provide Quality Control reviews for self-performed designs and those by others
- Support construction with problem-solving for field oversight including RFI
- Prepare shop drawings, submittals, and field inspections/reports
- Monitor and incorporate project comments and markups into design documents
Requirements
- High School Diploma required
- Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical designing and drafting
- Experience in AutoCAD and Revit
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required
Skills
- Knowledge of codes and standards including NFPA 70, 72, 101, 110, 780; UL 96A; ASHRAE 90.1
- Understanding of emergency systems, legally required systems, and optional standby systems
- Ability to coordinate connections of all power utilization
- Knowledge of EIA/TIA standards for fire alarm design, telecommunications design, CCTV system design, and intrusion detection system design
