Senior DS Engineer

Primary Responsibilities
- Provides solutions to problems and guidance to less experienced field engineers.
- Provides guidance on different types of equipment and infrastructure maintenance.
- Provides guidance and installs more advanced or new technologies based on the needs of the customer/client.
- Supports and conducts end-to-end testing of fiber optic cables using OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer), power meters, and other tools.
- Provides guidance, reports findings and provides solutions for any issues that halt progression.
- Provides recommendations and solutions resulting from equipment assessments and checkups.
- Trains internal and external groups on product features and specifications.
- Strengthens and builds client relationships by improving interaction with products.
- Reviews the work of less experienced team members.
- Reviews other team members’ work and coaches through issues for accurate production submissions.
- Communicates with team on daily basis supporting project timelines and goals.
- Collaborates with Government Points of Contact (POCs) to coordinate design, installation, base access, clearance, escorts, personnel and equipment to ensure project tasks can be completed on time.
- Assists the Program Manager (PM) with ensuring clear, consistent, timely and accurate communications are maintained with internal and external project stakeholders.
- Provides technical support, providing input into the distribution systems design (ISP/OSP) and technical recommendations to the program and operation teams.
- Leads small implementation teams or manages specific work scopes for a given site location.
Other Tasks Include
- Manages technical project plans, proposals, reports, and task order and administrative reporting.
- Conducts detailed technical services on assigned tasks.
- Updates network as-built documentation and records based on splicing and testing results.
- Attends customer meetings and serves as primary network engineering liaison.
- Interacts with vendors, other agencies, and other client staff.
- Coordinates development of deliverables and products.
- Safeguards quality assurance of project deliverables.
- Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
- Participates in special projects as required.
- Reviews project requirements and develops strategies for future work.
Qualifications
- BA/BS degree 5+ years’ experience in DS Engineering, ideally in DOW environment on IT upgrade projects.
- Active Secret Level Clearance required.
- Familiarity with distribution systems (ISP/OSP) design and Implementation documents such as – Design documentation, As-built diagrams, rack elevations and circuit connectivity matrices.
- Familiarity with all aspects of fiber testing.
- Thorough understanding of Wired and General IT functions.

Desired Qualifications
- Experience using MS Visio or related CAD tools.
- BICSI related certifications.

The likely salary range for this position is $83,927 - $113,549. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
