About the role

The Senior Director, Treasury is responsible for building and advancing a rapidly scalable cash generation strategy, convertible debt portfolio, and share repurchase program to meet the objectives of a high-growth, royalty-driven biotechnology business. This role partners with the Chief Financial Officer on liquidity, capital allocation, risk management, and operational excellence through scalable processes, controls, and capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Build a comprehensive treasury strategy aligned with Halozyme corporate objectives
  • Provide treasury perspective and modeling for Board and Investor communications on liquidity position, capital structure, risk management, and capital return strategy
  • Partner with the Chief Financial Officer on developing and managing Halozyme’s capital allocation strategy and decisions
  • Forecast cash, royalties & milestone collections, payment timing, capital, share repurchases, and M&A outflows
  • Oversee bank administration, signatory controls, online banking, and reconciliation processes
  • Evaluate and implement Treasury Management Systems as needed
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and update the short-term investment policies for cash reserves and marketable securities, balancing safety, liquidity, yield, and risk
  • Manage the investment portfolio, ensuring alignment with overall liquidity needs and debt obligations
  • Identify, measure, monitor, and mitigate key financial risks including foreign exchange, interest rate risk, and credit risk
  • Recommend hedging strategies
  • Support broader enterprise risk management efforts that may intersect with treasury
  • Provide recommendations and execution on the share buyback plan
  • Analyze debt capacity and determine optimal debt financing options
  • Model organic and M&A valuations, tracking, funding analysis, integration planning, and overall support for M&A, licensing deals, and business development opportunities
  • Establish, document, and implement continuous improvement measures for treasury policies, procedures, and SOX control (cash, banking, payments, risk management)
  • Ensure compliance with debt covenants, SEC reporting requirements, and other regulatory obligations
  • Deliver timely reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, executive team, Audit Committee, and other stakeholders as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 12 years of diverse financial and business experience
  • MBA preferred
  • At least 6 years of corporate Treasury leadership experience
  • Diverse experience in cross-disciplinary financial roles such as controllership, FP&A, tax, program finance, financial reporting, etc.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered
  • Experience with managing various convertible debt portfolios
  • Experience leading share repurchase programs for public companies
  • Experience providing Treasury and/or financial consultation on M&A transactions
  • Experience leading cash flow efficiency and effectiveness initiatives
  • Experience consulting on hedging initiatives
  • Global treasury experience is preferred

Pay

The most likely base pay range for this position is $250K - $290K per year. Several factors, such as experience, tenure, skills, and particular business needs, will determine an individual’s exact level of compensation. Total compensation could include bonuses, sales incentives, and equity awards.
