Senior Director, Trade and Distribution

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute Harmony’s long- and short-term trade, channel, and distribution strategic imperatives aligned to business objectives.
  • Lead, motivate, coach, develop, and retain a high-performing Trade and Distribution team; ensure resource readiness, clear priorities, and strong execution across workstreams.
  • Provide active account management for specialty pharmacies, wholesalers/distributors, and other key trade partners to support product availability, service performance, and operational excellence.
  • Establish, monitor, and manage key performance indicators, service-level expectations, inventory metrics, dispense data, and reporting requirements for channel partners; hold partners accountable while maintaining strong relationships.
  • Ensure patient accessibility to product through trade partners and specialty pharmacies while supporting compliant processes and appropriate operational controls.
  • Lead cross-functional teams with Patient Services, Commercial Operations/Analytics, Finance, IT, Field Sales, Legal/Compliance, Contracting, and Supply Chain to implement channel strategies, improve workflows, strengthen data quality, and track progress against established goals.
  • Lead or support negotiations for distribution, pricing, data, and service agreements with trade partners to ensure product availability, targeted market penetration, revenue and margin objectives, and patient needs are met.
  • Maintain excellence in team leadership, partner management, contracting, compliance, quarter-end management, SOPs, work instructions, process governance, and operational issue resolution.
  • Manage applicable operating budget and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, simplify processes, and strengthen partner performance.
  • Actively participate and contribute to the Market Access leadership team and other formal or informal cross-functional teams as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare products industry required; rare disease or specialty product experience preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience within Trade, Channel, Distribution, Specialty Pharmacy, Market Access, or related commercial operations functions required.
  • Experience building and managing distribution networks, including specialty pharmacy relationships, service agreements, data agreements, and operational governance.
  • Strong understanding of specialty pharmacy operations, reimbursement workflows, patient access, coverage, channel partner management, and contract negotiation processes.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret inventory, dispense, financial, operational, and service-level data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with business partners, stakeholders, and senior leadership; MS Office proficiency required.
  • Strong decision-making skills and ability to exercise sound business judgment within broad guidelines while balancing business, compliance, operational, and patient access considerations.
  • Able to identify process improvements, simplify workflows, and strengthen operational controls, governance, and partner accountability.
  • Strong team player with a customer-service mindset, high ethical standards, and solution-oriented approach.
