Accountabilities

  • Act as a senior program management partner to innovation leaders, providing strategic guidance, operational insight, and an integrated view across complex initiatives.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a program management team by establishing standards, improving capabilities, and enabling effective portfolio execution.
  • Own end-to-end delivery of strategic and financial objectives, ensuring alignment between priorities, resources, timelines, and execution plans.
  • Mature and modernize program management practices through AI-enabled solutions, automation, and innovative operating approaches.
  • Establish and continuously improve governance models, operating frameworks, decision processes, and collaboration practices.
  • Partner with operational excellence teams to strengthen organizational effectiveness and create sustainable ways of working.
  • Translate scientific developments, clinical insights, and technology strategies into business priorities and execution plans for senior stakeholders.
  • Lead cross-functional programs and transformation initiatives in complex, ambiguous environments.
  • Build alignment across internal teams, operating groups, external partners, and vendors to drive accountability and successful outcomes.
  • Identify risks, opportunities, and shifting priorities while ensuring proactive communication and effective mitigation strategies.
  • Support the continuous improvement of program management methodologies, tools, and processes across the organization.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in a life sciences discipline preferred, or a bachelor’s degree in a scientific field combined with significant relevant experience.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in program management, portfolio management, operations, or delivery leadership within life sciences, diagnostics, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical organizations.
  • 5+ years of experience managing and developing teams of program managers or similar professionals.
  • Proven experience implementing operating models, governance frameworks, and process improvement initiatives at scale.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply AI, automation, and digital tools to improve program management and operational workflows.
  • Experience translating scientific, clinical, or technical concepts into business strategies, investment decisions, and commercialization priorities.
  • Strong track record leading complex, cross-functional initiatives within matrixed organizations and through external partnerships.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and drive execution in fast-paced innovation environments.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies or operational excellence frameworks is a plus.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 20-30% as needed for leadership meetings, governance sessions, and program forums.
