The Senior Director of Product & Platform Engineering is responsible for shaping the future of digital platforms and customer experiences at enterprise scale. This role involves leading product and platform engineering teams to build scalable, modern solutions across multiple digital channels.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute the roadmap for a unified digital platform, creating scalable and reusable customer-facing capabilities across channels.
- Lead engineering teams responsible for maintaining business-critical digital experiences while advancing modernization initiatives.
- Drive platform consolidation efforts by replacing fragmented solutions with shared services, reusable components, common APIs, and modern architecture patterns.
- Partner with Product Management, UX, Architecture, Platform Engineering, and business stakeholders to align technology priorities with customer needs.
- Establish engineering standards, governance frameworks, and reusable technology patterns across multiple teams.
- Evaluate and introduce emerging technologies that improve customer experience, engineering efficiency, and platform scalability.
- Build, mentor, and develop Directors, Engineering Managers, Principal Engineers, and broader engineering teams.
- Lead organizational transformation initiatives while maintaining operational stability and delivery excellence.
- Improve platform adoption, engineering maturity, delivery speed, and overall digital experience performance.
- Promote a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Extensive experience leading large-scale engineering organizations and delivering digital transformation initiatives.
- Proven success in large-scale digital transformation, customer experience modernization, and platform consolidation.
- Strong understanding of customer journeys and digital engagement strategies across multiple channels.
- Deep expertise in modern web technologies and digital platforms, including React, Node.js, REST APIs, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with API-first architectures, Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) patterns, micro-frontends, and modern integration frameworks.
- Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, CI/CD pipelines, observability platforms, DevSecOps practices, and performance engineering.
- Ability to integrate customer-facing applications with enterprise systems and services.
- Strong executive communication skills with the ability to present technical strategies to business and technology leaders.
- Proven ability to build, mentor, and scale high-performing engineering organizations.
- Strong decision-making skills with the ability to balance immediate business needs with long-term strategic investments.
- Ability to lead teams through significant organizational and technology change.
