Senior Director of Human Capital Advisory

Human ResourcesFull-time

About The Role

The Senior Director of Human Capital Advisory will serve as the primary analytical lead for ACPWB's engagements with regional financial services firms, translating complex labor market intelligence questions into structured research. This position requires someone who finds genuine satisfaction in being the most technically rigorous person in the room and who can explain that rigor in language clients will actually act on. The People Science team is collegial, highly capable, and shares strong opinions about Milwaukee's food scene. ACPWB is adding a Senior Director of Human Capital Advisory to support a practice area that has grown faster than our current staffing model anticipated. This is, we have been told, a good problem to have. The People Science team is intellectually rigorous, occasionally quirky, and entirely committed to the work. We offer competitive compensation, genuine flexibility, and the satisfaction of working at a firm that practices what it publishes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead client workshops and working sessions on labor market intelligence strategy and implementation
  • Participate in cross-practice initiatives to integrate labor market intelligence insights into broader advisory offerings
  • Author quarterly client-facing research briefs summarizing key market trends in labor market intelligence
  • Lead internal strategy sessions to define ACPWB's service roadmap for the labor market intelligence practice area
  • Support business development efforts by contributing to proposals, presentations, and thought leadership
  • Participate in expert interviews, panels, and press inquiries on behalf of ACPWB regarding labor market intelligence

Qualifications Required

  • Working knowledge of equity compensation instruments including RSUs, options, and performance shares
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing to a collaborative team culture
  • Advanced proficiency in Economic Research Institute Assessor or an equivalent compensation benchmarking survey platform
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a proven track record of producing structured, defensible solutions despite it

Preferred

  • Prior experience at a publicly traded company in a compensation or HR leadership role
  • Experience at a top-tier management consulting firm or Big 4 advisory practice
  • Demonstrated ability to produce client-ready analytical work with minimal editorial revision required

Why ACPWB

ACPWB is the right place for people who believe that doing well and doing good are not fundamentally in conflict. We advise on compensation — a topic where decisions have direct, material consequences for working Americans — and we take that accountability seriously. We also pay competitively, which is consistent with our stated values. ACPWB was founded in Milwaukee in 2006 with a simple mandate: help working Americans understand and advocate for the compensation they deserve. Eighteen years later, that mandate has grown into a full-service research and advisory practice serving clients from early-stage employers to Fortune 50 enterprises — and we are still based in Milwaukee, because Milwaukee is genuinely underrated.

Interview Process

We use a structured, competency-based interview format with a standardized scoring rubric applied consistently across all candidates. This approach is less exciting than an unstructured conversation but more predictive and considerably fairer. Interviewers are trained on the rubric before they use it.

What Success Looks Like In Year One

  • Complete all required compliance and ethics training modules before their respective deadlines
  • Produce at least one deliverable that appears in a client's board materials or proxy statement
  • Successfully guide a junior team member through a full engagement cycle as a peer coach
  • Establish yourself as a trusted resource to colleagues on at least one analytical or technical topic
