Responsibilities and Duties
- Develop and implement a vision and strategy for day services that advances organizational goals and responds to evolving community needs.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to expand employment services and job coaching programs, fostering partnerships and innovative service models.
- Lead initiatives that promote inclusive, person-centered programming and enhance community integration.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align day service strategies with organizational priorities and funding opportunities.
- Provide strategic direction for the development and alignment of ancillary and clinical supports that function across service lines, ensuring consistency and effectiveness at the organizational level.
- Partner with executive and senior leadership to anticipate regulatory, system, and service delivery trends impacting Day Services and Clinical Supports.
Operational and Regulatory Program Oversight
- Oversee the daily operations of multiple program sites across Day Services, ensuring services promote dignity, independence, skill development, and community inclusion.
- Ensure compliance with DDS, DPH, MassHealth, and CARF standards applicable to Day Services and Clinical Services.
- Provide organizational oversight of Clinical Services, which function as an agency-wide support across all service lines, including Day Services and Residential Services.
- Serve as the organization’s senior-level BCBA, providing system-level oversight of Positive Behavior Supports (PBS), including clinical structure, policy alignment, quality assurance, and regulatory readiness.
- Ensure clinical and interdisciplinary services (behavioral supports, nursing, OT, PT, speech) are effectively coordinated and integrated across programs in alignment with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Establish and maintain systems that support clinical documentation integrity, data review, and reporting requirements related to PBS and other clinical supports.
- Partner with clinical leaders, program directors, and interdisciplinary teams to support training, consultation, and continuous improvement, without functioning as a direct clinical provider.
- Maintain accurate and current information regarding DDS-funded contracts for CBDS and Employment Programs, preparing utilization updates for provider meetings, contract reviews, and DDS-related discussions.
- Monitor enrollment and utilization trends across Day Services and prepare utilization updates for provider meetings, contract reviews, and DDS-related discussions.
- Assist in developing program budgets and funding proposals; monitor spending and recommend adjustments as needed.
- Leverage staffing, technology, and organizational systems to support efficient, high-quality service delivery and workforce planning.
Quality Management
- Provide organizational oversight of quality management systems supporting DDS-funded Community-Based Day Services (CBDS) and Employment Programs, MassHealth Day Habilitation services, and Clinical Supports, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory and accreditation standards, including maintaining up-to-date records, prior authorizations, policies, procedures, and trainings.
- Implement and monitor a continuous quality improvement process to ensure compliance with MassHealth, DDS, and CARF standards.
- Maintain systems in place to support regulatory readiness across Day Services and Clinical Supports, including preparation for audits, surveys, and monitoring activities.
- Monitor prior authorization timelines and documentation accuracy for Day Habilitation and other applicable services to ensure compliance and prevent service interruptions.
- Review and analyze programmatic and organizational data related to service delivery, utilization, incidents, and quality outcomes to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Partner with the Director of Clinical Services, Day Services leadership, and other senior leaders to identify corrective actions and quality improvement priorities, while maintaining clear separation from direct clinical service delivery.
- Ensure alignment of quality management practices across service lines to promote consistency, accountability, and high-quality, person-centered services.
Staff Oversight and Training
- Provide strategic leadership for the supervision and development of Day Services staff, ensuring teams are supported to deliver high-quality, person-centered services aligned with New England Village’s mission and values.
- Provide supervision and oversight of the Director of Clinical Services and other designated clinical leadership roles.
- Establish expectations for clinical leadership accountability, regulatory compliance, and alignment with organizational standards across service lines.
- Support the identification and advancement of training and professional development opportunities that align with organizational priorities, regulatory requirements, and evolving service needs.
- Ensure onboarding and required ongoing trainings and certifications are completed in accordance with regulatory standards and NEV practice.
- Partner with Human Resources to support recruitment, retention, and staffing decisions that align with program needs and organizational goals.
- Provide regular supervision and leadership engagement with direct reports, including participation in team meetings and scheduled one-to-one supervision focused on performance, development, and alignment.
- Utilize organizational systems to support operational oversight, workforce planning, and effective team coordination.
- Collaborate with Human Resources and Senior Leadership to support timely and appropriate responses to incidents, concerns, or complaints, including follow-up actions such as staff retraining, performance coaching, and documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
Leadership and Professionalism
- Actively contribute perspective and insight to organizational planning and decision-making processes, bringing forward considerations related to Day Services, Clinical Supports, and system-wide impacts to support informed, mission-aligned change.
- Promote leadership practices that foster trust, shared accountability, collaboration, transparency, and engagement across teams, supporting strong working relationships and an environment in which staff feel valued, heard, and equipped to succeed in delivering person-centered services.
- Participate as a member of New England Village’s Senior Leadership Team, contributing to organizational alignment, planning, and decision-making.
- Represent the organization in external meetings, audits, and regulatory discussions related to Day Services and ancillary or clinical supports, as delegated by the COO.
- Contribute to organizational strategy and continuous improvement efforts by identifying trends, emerging needs, and opportunities to strengthen service delivery.
- Demonstrate professionalism, adaptability, and sound judgment in navigating complex situations, including during periods of change or increased operational demand.
- Participate in on-call responsibilities as part of the Senior Leadership team, in accordance with organizational protocols.
