Senior Director of Crisis Care

About the role

This is a hybrid position based in Culver City, CA. Candidates must be local to Los Angeles County and be willing to be on-site 1-2 days per week. The pay range for this position is between $128,033-$147,239 annually.

Primary Duties

• Provide strategic direction and leadership for all outpatient counseling services within the Suicide Prevention Counseling Center, ensuring excellence in client care and staff performance.
• Develops realistic and measurable objectives for therapeutic out-patient counseling programs within the Suicide Prevention Center.
• Provides leadership to program staff, ensuring that all services meet or exceed contractual performance goals; ensures delivery of services in accordance with contracted guidelines and Didi Hirsch philosophies.
• Forms a highly effective team to accomplish short- and long-term goals for the department.
• Identifies opportunities to increase the visibility and reputation of programs and represents the program at events, in media interviews, through conferences, board leadership, etc.
• Lead strategic growth of crisis and disaster care services, ensuring alignment with community needs, payer requirements and organizational sustainability goals. Develops strong partnerships with agencies and key stakeholders in the community that could serve as referral sources and experts to grow the programs.

Management Duties

• Performs managerial duties to include interviewing applicants for employment; assigning and reviewing progress of assignments; conducting performance appraisals; recommending salary increases; and developing higher levels of expertise in staff members by encouraging further education, participation in seminars and providing learning opportunities within applicable and related fields.
• Coaches staff in the development of their work plans, their assigned duties, responsibilities, management of projects and scope of authority.
• Offers clinical supervision and mentorship to licensed clinicians, interns, and support staff, including oversight of crisis situations.
• Attends, participates, leads and/or facilitates routinely scheduled meetings as requested or required for the program, division, or Agency.
• Interfaces with related community agencies, attends meetings as scheduled and/or needed.
• Collaborates with Business Development on payer negotiations, contract strategy, new clinical offerings and demonstrates program outcomes to external partners.

Program Quality, Compliance and Reporting

• Makes sure progress against plans and stated goals as it applies to program documentation and contract/grant deliverables.
• Reviews documentation and status reports prepared by program staff to ensure all legal, contractual, and revenue-generating reports meet or exceed required Agency and applicable regulatory agencies’ standards.
• Sure all administrative documentation is accurate and submitted within the established timeframe; gathers and analyzes information and prepares routine reports including those used to assess performance.
• Designs, implements, and revises clinical procedures, policies, and program development plans aligned with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.

Position Requirements

• Master’s degree in psychology, social work, or related field.
• Current California License as a clinician (LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, PsyD, PhD).
• Minimum of 8 years providing clinical service and supervision in a social service/mental health and/or substance use setting.
• Experience in trauma, crisis intervention, disaster care, and/or suicide prevention is strongly preferred.
• Experience with private insurance, MediCal and private pay clinical practice settings.
• Experience in strategic planning and/or program development, especially in emerging or growing service areas.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of suicide prevention and crisis care services.
• Support the values and mission of Didi Hirsch as related to employment.
• Know and comply with Agency policies and procedures, HIPAA, DMH, and OC-HCA policies and documentation guidelines, and other state, federal regulations relating to quality assurance and improvement.
• Demonstrate effective leadership and management skills.
• Be experienced in 24/7 crisis care settings.
• Present ideas, information, and viewpoints clearly, both verbally and in writing.
• Efficiently use the personal computer including word processing, spreadsheets, and other related software programs.
• Manage employee performance consistent with defined Didi Hirsch processes.
• Utilize analysis, experience, and judgment to make solid business and clinical decisions.
• Demonstrate commitment to team objectives and Didi Hirsch philosophies.
• Able to adapt to changing needs by acquiring new skills and knowledge.
• Current California driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to the Agency’s insurance carrier.
