About the role

Verizon is undergoing a strategic transformation, building a world-class product and revenue organization committed to driving sustainable business growth and long-term customer value. The CXO Strategy & Planning function serves as a forward-looking commercial engine, synthesizing global market intelligence, framing complex structural problem statements, and uncovering high-impact digital growth and customer experience opportunities. This team translates macroeconomic competitive movements, customer telemetry, and foundational technology shifts into quantifiable future goals, defining the long-term directional path for our entire digital and conversational ecosystem.

Operating as a critical upstream advisor during day-zero ideation and early scope definition, the Senior Director leads a team that ensures alignment across all emerging initiatives to safeguard long-term value realization. In equal partnership with Experience Assurance (XA), Core Product & Delivery, Marketing, and Finance, this function formulates the 3-to-5-year directional roadmap for the My Verizon App, Conversational AI, and agentic emerging tech platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate Omnichannel & Platform Strategy: Define the 3-to-5-year directional roadmap and immediate operational strategies across the My Verizon App, conversational messaging, and emerging technology platforms to drive growth, retention, and lifecycle experience goals.
  • Govern Technology & Vendor Sourcing: Partner across Product, Experience Assurance (XA), and IT Engineering to co-author the multi-year technology enablement roadmap, acting as the strategic evaluator of third-party software agreements, platform licensing, and vendor partnerships.
  • Drive Commercial & Ecosystem Growth: Formulate forward-looking sales strategies and long-range planning to identify, evaluate, and prioritize alternative commercial avenues and deep third-party digital ecosystem integrations (e.g., Amazon).
  • Frame Upstream Structural Problems: Synthesize domestic and global competitor movements, customer insights, and global technology shifts to pinpoint structural vulnerabilities, solving deep architectural and journey friction before development pipelines begin.
  • Establish Day-Zero Matrix Alignment: Engage seamlessly with Experience Assurance (XA) and product lines at inception to mandate up-front collaborative planning, coordinate early trade-offs, and lock in co-owned business outcomes and financial targets.
  • Lead Capital & Wallet Optimization: Own the comprehensive capital and operational budget planning for the Digital and XA organizations, masterfully managing rigorous trade-off discussions and capacity constraints mapped to proof-of-capacity models.
  • Formulate Value Realization & Influence: Oversee macro strategic OKRs and KPIs to systematically measure the business return on core investments, leading a high-performing strategy team that serves as the primary liaison to corporate leadership through data-driven executive narratives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in digital channel strategy, digital product strategy, management consulting, or emerging technology strategy.
  • Proven experience managing cross-functional leaders and building high-performing teams from the ground up (zero-to-one organization experience).
  • Proven track record of delivering complex digital strategies with a clear, disciplined path to execution and matrixed outcome ownership.
  • Core expertise in strategic foresight, domestic and global competitive intelligence synthesis, upstream problem framing, and translating qualitative benchmarks into structured plans.
  • Deep technical and product architecture literacy spanning modern digital ecosystems, AI/GenAI engines, agentic middleware layers, multi-modal frameworks, and automated sales/service pathways.
  • Strong executive presence with a demonstrated capability to influence senior corporate stakeholders, navigate a highly matrixed environment, and establish robust value realization frameworks.
  • Exhibit a customer-centric mindset, relentless intellectual curiosity, and robust macro financial risk assessment capabilities.
  • Demonstrated passion for fostering inclusive environments, building psychological safety, and empowering diverse, cross-functional teams to collaborate openly, challenge the status quo, and deliver collective innovation.
