This role leads the development, governance, and continuous improvement of proposal and contracting processes for U.S. market access across commercial payers, PBMs, GPOs, specialty pharmacies, trade, and institutional customers.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end proposal and deal development lifecycle, from opportunity assessment and pre-deal analytics through contract execution and post-deal performance evaluation.
- Partner with Market Access (MA) Strategy on New Product and Life Cycle Management strategy development, GOA, and Guideline Development.
- Provide market dynamic insight, customer-specific insight, and validate customer models to achieve brand targets.
- Oversee enterprise deal governance, including executive-level governance, Product-Specific Pricing Subcommittees, and PACT Reviews.
- Maintain clear charters and ways of working, ensuring adherence to efficient and effective processes.
- Lead cross-functional teams (P&C, Managed Markets, Legal, Finance, MA Strategy) to refine deal strategies, challenge assumptions, and prepare for executive and regional approval forums.
- Ensure proposals align with approved brand and channel contract strategies and guidelines, and develop strong business cases for executive review.
- Coordinate with Finance, Gross-to-Net, forecasting, data/analytics, and claims operations to ensure proposals use accurate and consistent data sources (e.g., claims systems, customer portals).
- Oversee post-deal analytics with Commercial Analytics, including contract performance dashboards comparing actual performance vs. forecast, tracking gross profit margin, and informing renewal recommendations.
- Develop Contract Life Cycle Management Strategy to optimize future strategies and ensure contract language supports evolving needs.
- Identify, evaluate, and champion process improvements, automation, contract lifecycle tools, and AI/bots to streamline proposal drafting, document comparison, and metrics generation.
- Enhance customer-facing effectiveness by supporting account teams with deal presentations and customer meetings as needed.
- Partner with MA strategy marketing to clarify and operationalize contract strategy (e.g., max rebate rates, preferred positioning targets, ideal language constructs).
- Mentor and develop a high-performing team, ensuring skill improvement, cross-training, and backup coverage to reduce single-point dependency risk.
- Improve deal analytics quality, including quantitative frameworks like Payer360 and competitive lens models to support deal development and GTN revenue impact.
- Develop enhanced capabilities for deal assessments by collaborating with MA Strategy, Commercial Analytics, and IT to review post-deal assessments and integrate findings into models like Anaplan.
- Optimize deal structures and new programs, including Value-Based Agreements, ensuring enterprise capabilities and processes support innovation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or Life Sciences (required); MBA, PharmD, or JD (heavily preferred).
- 12+ years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or payer domains.
- At least 5 years of U.S. Market Access experience in pricing strategy, commercial/government contracting, account management, payer analytics, finance, or New Product Planning (NPP).

Pay
Minimum $230,720.00 – Maximum $345,000.00, plus incentive opportunity. The range represents typical pay for individuals hired in the U.S., adjusted based on experience, skills, and internal comparisons.
