About the role

The Senior Expert Services Manager is a senior practitioner and strategic advisor for Skai's enterprise retail media clients. You own the strategy, performance, and outcome of an assigned book of accounts, from planning through hands-on execution. You are the person clients rely on to make sense of a fragmented and fast-moving retail media landscape. The role sits where deep channel expertise meets strategic consulting, focusing on understanding client business goals, interpreting data, and building actionable plans and narratives.

Working with the Retail Media Expert Services Director, you will serve external clients and act as a retail media expert for the region, supporting internal stakeholders and helping shape Skai's platform evolution.

Responsibilities

  • Own the strategy, performance, and outcomes of an assigned book of enterprise retail media accounts.
  • Plan, build, and optimize campaigns hands-on across Amazon, Walmart, Instacart, Target, and other retail media networks, including day-to-day management as needed.
  • Investigate performance issues and opportunities, and bring actionable recommendations to clients.
  • Advise senior client stakeholders on media planning, budget allocation across networks, and retail media best practices.
  • Lead QBRs and strategic reviews, and support the client services team on renewals, growth conversations, and escalations.
  • Build custom analyses, reports, and automations where standard tools and templates fall short.
  • Serve as the retail media subject matter expert for the region, supporting internal stakeholders across the business.
  • Mentor less experienced colleagues and contribute to team playbooks and processes.
  • Partner with product development, sales, technical account management, and sales engineers to drive platform innovation and capture market opportunities.

Requirements

We care more about what you have done than how long you have been doing it. Expect to speak to these requirements concretely.

Technical skills

  • Enterprise retail media ownership, as the senior owner accountable for strategy through execution—not just delivering someone else's plan.
  • Hands-on experience with Amazon and Walmart, full stack (search and DSP), including Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, Sponsored Display, Amazon DSP, Walmart Connect sponsored search, Walmart DSP, Vendor Central, Seller Central, and the 1P versus 3P distinction.
  • Proficiency with Amazon Marketing Cloud (AMC) beyond out-of-the-box templates, using it to answer complex questions, build custom audiences, and perform analyses like incrementality or multi-touch attribution.
  • Analytical depth, including root-cause analysis and the ability to tie metrics back to client business objectives rather than optimizing to a dashboard.
  • Retail media ecosystem fluency, understanding how retailer economics, onsite, offsite, DSP, 1P, 3P, and shopper marketing fit together, and why tactics may succeed on one network but fail on another.
  • Advanced use of generative AI tools (e.g., Claude) to produce technical outputs, such as reshaping data, reports, automations, and custom agents. A software engineering background is not required.

Ways of working

  • Strategic translation: Turning ambiguous client goals into actionable strategies, plans, and narratives that clients can present to their leadership.
  • Stakeholder range: Credibility with both analysts running day-to-day operations and executives owning budgets within the same account.
  • Cross-functional operation: Thriving in fast-paced, matrixed environments where delivery depends on teams that do not report to you.
  • Ownership and follow-through: Taking problems to resolution, picking up unowned tasks, and doing the right thing because it is right—not just because it was asked.

Strongly preferred

  • Breadth across other retail media networks, such as Instacart, Target and Roundel Media Studio, Criteo, CitrusAd, Epsilon, Kroger Precision Marketing, and Amazon Retail Ad Service. Breadth across several networks matters more than depth in any single one.
  • Agency-side background, though strong candidates from brand, retailer, and platform sides are also welcome.
  • Coaching and informal leadership experience, such as mentoring or training less experienced colleagues, or building playbooks and documentation.
  • Commercial exposure, including retention and growth of a book of business, QBRs with economic buyers, and scoping new work.
  • Familiarity with how retail media integrates with shopper marketing, trade budgets, and joint business planning with retailers.
  • Experience with Skai or a comparable retail media or search management platform.
  • Experience collaborating with a global team, both locally and virtually.

Location and travel

  • US-based.
  • Ability to travel up to 10-15%.
