Duties & Responsibilities
- Evaluates reliability of materials, properties and techniques used in production
- Plans, designs and develops electronic parts, components, integrated circuitry, mechanical systems, equipment and packaging, optical systems and/or DSP systems
- Designs electrical circuits and digital systems for next generation avionics test equipment, and radio test equipment
- Develops digital hardware systems that include high performance embedded processors, CPLDs, FPGAs, audio, switching power supplies, ADC, DAC and peripheral products
- Works with designs that incorporate high speed busses such as DDR3/4, PCIe Gen 3/4, USB, and SerDes
- Uses ECAD tools such as Cadence, Mentor Graphics, or Altium to design digital hardware systems
- Uses general test equipment (e.g. multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers) to design test boards or fixtures to aid in board bring-up and PCBA testing
- Researches and selects components to meet electrical engineering design needs
- Tests designed circuits and documents the test results
- Finds technical root cause and suggests corrective action for given problems
- Provides estimates on level of effort for design projects and executes designs to meet development schedules
- Evaluates new options of similar technology and offers suggestions to improve processes
- Provides comments and suggestions in design reviews
- Documents design including schematics, theory of operations and troubleshooting guides
Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements
- BSEE (Master’s degree a plus), or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of digital hardware design experience
- Excellent communication skills required
- Experience with designing circuits using DDR3, PCIe, and other high speed busses
- Well rounded knowledge of various types of EDA tools such as schematic capture, PCB layout tools, power and signal integrity simulation, synthesis, place-and-route tools. Cadence tool flow desired
- Experienced with avionics, communications and test equipment design preferred
- US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status required (U.S. Person Status per ITAR Regulations)
