About the role
Vast.ai seeks a Developer Advocate to own the developer community and technical content surrounding Vast. This role will help establish Vast as a key player in the developer ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Be a real presence in our Discord, on Reddit, and on X, answering technical questions and setting the tone for how Vast communicates with developers.
- Tutorials, example repos, and short videos demonstrating how to get something running on Vast.
- Run our presence at hackathons, meetups, and conferences, including attending conferences in person.
- Represent Vast at hackathons we're already sponsoring this summer.
- Give a clear read on how other GPU and AI-infra companies show up with developers, and identify areas where we need improvement.
Requirements
You've been an engineer and can deploy a model and debug someone's setup. You've built a developer community before, ideally from scratch, and you enjoy interacting with and engaging with developers.
Qualifications
- You like people more than most engineers do. You write, post, and talk, and you're comfortable showing up at events.
- You run yourself. You don't rely on a content calendar and prefer to ship something rather than sit in a planning meeting.
Nice to have
- Experience at a cloud, GPU, AI-infrastructure, or developer-tools company.
- A project or tutorial that has traveled, gaining traction within the developer community.
- A working knowledge of the AI/ML stack: model deployment, inference, fine-tuning.
What You Won't Own
- Paid ads, brand and positioning strategy, the growth dashboard, or building SDKs and docs tooling.
- The GPU hosts and suppliers' needs.

Compensation and Location
- $160,000–$200,000 base depending on experience, plus equity.
- We're profitable, venture-backed, and growing, so the equity is a stake in a real company with a real valuation, not a lottery ticket.
- Los Angeles or San Francisco Bay Area.
