Senior Design Reviewer (Architectural)
Hours: Full-time – 35 hours per week

About the Role
The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Division of Public Buildings, Architecture and Engineering seeks an experienced Architect to report to the Director and Deputy Directors of the Architecture Unit. Responsibilities include project scope development, existing conditions and forensic analysis, review of design and construction documents prepared by consultants, and preparation/review of documents and construction administration for in-house design projects.
As Team Leader, the selected candidate will coordinate multi-disciplinary teams to ensure compliance with project schedules, budgets, and applicable codes. The role requires thorough knowledge of design principles, industry best practices, building codes, project delivery methodologies, and the latest technologies in the field. The candidate will interface with sponsors, consultants, contractors, project managers, and other technical staff.
Educational credentials must be from a U.S. Department of Education-recognized accredited institution. Foreign credentials require independent equivalency verification from an approved evaluation service.
Responsibilities
- Develop project scope and conduct existing conditions/forensic analysis
- Review design and construction documents prepared by consultants
- Prepare and review documents for in-house design projects
- Provide construction administration
- Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams to ensure compliance with schedules, budgets, and codes
- Interface with sponsors, consultants, contractors, project managers, and technical staff
Requirements
- Valid New York State Registration as an Architect
- Six years of full-time paid experience in architectural work, with at least two years as an administrative architect
- Current authorization to work full-time in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship provided)
- Educational credentials from a U.S. Department of Education-recognized institution or verified equivalency for foreign credentials
Preferred Skills
- Minimum of 10 years of full-time experience as a Registered Architect
- Experience in new construction and renovation work
- Scope development, preparation/review of design and construction documents, and construction administration
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of NYC Building Code and computer-aided drafting
- Good interpersonal skills for client, consultant, contractor, and team interactions
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (required); Bluebeam Revu and Revit (preferred)
- LEED accreditation (preferred)

Pay
$62,407.00 – $108,150.00
