Senior Design Architect : Senior Living

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic, passionate, and self-driven individual to lead design and planning efforts for senior living projects of varying scope and complexity. From campus master planning to new construction and renovation projects, you will collaborate with clients and project teams to craft meaningful places for aging.

Responsibilities

• Act as a client liaison for projects, leading them through our purpose-driven design approach.
• Lead programming and planning for the whole spectrum of senior living environments, including master planning, repositioning, renovation, and new construction.
• Balance broad market perspectives and finer details to craft purpose-driven environments for aging.
• Lead and mentor through project work, contributing to market-based thought leadership and client retention.
• Seek growth opportunities and market influences that may impact our clients and project design strategies.

Requirements

• Licensed architect with 10+ years of relevant work experience in senior living planning, architectural design, and unit design.
• Versatility beyond planning, including design, implementation, and project management.
• No other staff report directly to this position, reporting to the Living Environments Studio Director.
• Strong narrative skills with the ability to confidently guide design and planning efforts with clients, consultants, and internal teams.
• Interpersonal and presentation skills with a high standard in written, graphic, and oral communication.
• Working knowledge of senior living operations, finance, and regulations that influence planning and design solutions.
• Experience with Revit, SketchUp, and related software is preferred.
• Exceptional organization skills and the ability to solve problems proactively and prioritize assignments.
• A positive attitude with a desire to actively contribute to the firm's culture.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Architecture or related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience in senior living planning, architectural design, and unit design.
• Experience in master planning, repositioning, renovation, and new construction projects.
• Experience in balancing broad market perspectives and finer details to craft purpose-driven environments for aging.
• Experience in leading and mentoring through project work, contributing to market-based thought leadership and client retention.

Benefits

This is a strategic role for someone seeking both personal growth and professional agency. The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $135,000 based on skills and experience.

Schedule

This role is performed five days a week with a minimum of four days per week physically present in office.
