About the role

As a Senior Data Engineer on the Analytics team, you will collaborate with internal teams to design data pipelines, take ownership of the codebase, and drive architectural decisions that shape the direction of multiple products. You will actively code to unblock technical challenges, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and contribute to a culture of innovation, autonomy, and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal teams to design data pipelines that ingest information from various systems into BigQuery or Redshift data warehouses.
  • Take ownership of the codebase by identifying gaps, improving areas, refactoring as needed, and maintaining a modern design.
  • Actively code to resolve technical and communication challenges, ensuring teams meet product roadmaps.
  • Participate in architecture review decisions, designs, and documentation that govern the direction of the team and codebase over several months.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders (upper management, engineering manager, product manager, and peers) regarding the product you are responsible for.
  • Provide feedback and participate in pair programming exercises.
  • Ensure the team delivers reliable, scalable, high-performing customer-facing analytic services within SLAs.
  • Deliver committed business initiatives and coordinate with stakeholders to roll out products with analytic insights.
  • Empower business teams and customers with AI-assisted insights without dependency on engineering.
  • Consistently deliver high-quality, maintainable, and scalable code that earns the trust of your team and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Ability to approach complex, ambiguous data challenges systematically by diagnosing problems, creating plans, and executing solutions.
  • Experience owning data integrity, ensuring data is reliable, timely, and traceable from source to consumption.
  • Experience creating and maintaining ETL pipelines using modern tools such as Python, SQL, Airflow, DBT, S3, Airbyte, and Confluent.
  • Experience creating and maintaining analytic semantic layers and business intelligence dashboards (e.g., Looker, PowerBI, Tableau).
  • Proficiency in leveraging AI agents and tools to enhance developer productivity.
  • Experience with database and data warehouse technologies such as Postgres, BigQuery, and Redshift.
  • Experience with cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Experience developing large-scale data models and complex data pipelines.

Qualifications

  • BS Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Five years of experience developing data platforms using Python and SQL.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with large slow-changing dimension data models.
  • Experience in the US healthcare system, particularly with data systems and EHRs such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth.

Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal and external sources.
