About the Opportunity
The Senior Data Engineer role is responsible for designing and implementing scalable data engineering solutions that support complex analytics and reporting needs. This position plays a key role in building and maintaining enterprise data pipelines and integration processes, ensuring data quality and operational efficiency. The role contributes to the organization by enabling informed decision-making through a reliable, highly optimized data infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate actively with product owners, business users, and core stakeholders to translate data requirements into automated engineering solutions
- Design, develop, and maintain modern data pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF), DBT (Data Build Tool), Snowflake SQL, and metadata-driven frameworks
- Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, relational views, and stored procedures tailored for high-performance analytics and business reporting
- Arcitect and support robust data integration processes, including multi-format batch file ingestion and automated, secure data extracts
- Partner with architectural stakeholders to determine technical solutions that balance performance, multi-tenant scalability, and code maintainability
- Serve as a technical expert and internal mentor, providing structured guidance on modern data engineering best practices and design patterns
- Author and maintain clear technical documentation, including source-to-target data mappings, file specifications, and operational runbooks
- Evaluate, monitor, and continuously improve automated data quality validation checks and backend operational efficiencies
- Support strategic data acquisition initiatives, including onboarding new third-party data sources and configuring secure data transfers
- Communicate intricate technical concepts clearly to both distributed engineering teams and non-technical senior leadership
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment that promotes continuous knowledge sharing and technical skill improvement
- Manage multiple shifting priorities independently while remaining highly adaptable to evolving product requirements
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve critical pipeline failures, upstream data anomalies, and cloud-compute performance bottlenecks
Requirements
- High School Diploma / GED or equivalent practical professional experience
- Eight (8) or more years of progressive data engineering experience with a strict focus on enterprise data warehousing (EDW) and ETL/ELT architecture
- Eight (8) or more years of direct experience designing, building, and orchestration pipelines using Azure Data Factory and/or the Snowflake Data Cloud
- Eight (8) or more years of hands-on experience developing within Snowflake, including creating stored procedures and deploying native platform utilities
- Eight (8) or more years of experience managing code repositories with GitHub version control and deploying via automated CI/CD pipelines
- Eight (8) or more years of strong Python programming experience tailored for big data processing, data manipulation, and workflow orchestration
- Eight (8) or more years of experience building or consuming modern REST APIs within integrated Snowflake or ADF cloud workflows
- Five (5) or more years of system scripting experience (such as Windows Batch or PowerShell) optimized for the Microsoft Azure platform
- Proven experience parsing, cleaning, and processing diverse structured and semi-structured datasets, including fixed-width, delimited flat files, JSON, and XML
- Prior data engineering exposure within heavily regulated fields such as healthcare analytics, digital health tech, or pharmacy benefit systems
- Strong understanding of healthcare compliance frameworks and data security standards protecting sensitive patient information
Pay Range and Compensation Package
The target baseline salary framework is $91,700.00 to $163,700.00 USD annually for full-time alignment. Final base salary placement within this tier is calibrated dynamically based on the candidate's specialized Azure/Snowflake architecture depth, Python orchestration capabilities, physical location, and internal equity frameworks.
