About the role
National Grid is hiring a Senior Data Analyst for our Electric Data and Systems team department in Syracuse, NY.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders across National Grid domains to define data solutions that support strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with data engineers and architects to ensure scalable, reliable data architecture.
- Define data requirements, acceptance criteria, and user stories for Electric datasets and Data Products, and work with product teams to prioritize and deliver value.
- Design, develop, and maintain data models and Data Products within the EDM platform.
- Analyze large, complex datasets and processes to identify trends, performance metrics, and opportunities for optimization and translate findings into actionable business insights.
- Create comprehensive documentation, including administrative artifacts such as solution decisions and user-facing references such as job aids and training material.
- Act as a mentor for junior analysts, leading through data projects and providing constructive feedback.
- Support the Electric Data and Systems and Digital Solutions teams as needed, for both run-the-business activities and strategic initiatives.
Requirements
- Proven experience working with diverse teams and individuals.
- Demonstrated customer service as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills, including a proven ability to effectively communicate with peers and both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in data analysis or data science roles.
- Proficiency in SQL and additional programming languages commonly used for data analysis (e.g. Python or R).
- Experience designing and implementing data models and working with relational databases.
- Demonstrated ability to build clear, actionable data visualizations and dashboards for diverse audiences.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge of data governance, data quality practices, and metadata management.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Benefits
This position includes a Storm Role assignment. Candidates must be able to respond to storm emergencies as required. Ability to travel throughout the National Grid service territory as needed (less than 20%). Must have a valid driver's license and safe driving history.
Pay
$96,000.00 - $112,000.00 USD annually
