About the role
This is Adyen, a payments platform serving the world's leading companies. As a Senior Credit Risk Analyst, you'll evaluate and manage credit risk for Adyen's expanding financial products, including Adyen Capital, Charge Cards, and Overdrafts. You'll work closely with Commercial, Product, Compliance, and other teams to develop data-driven risk processes.
Responsibilities
- Perform structured, deep-dive credit assessments and portfolio monitoring for multi-product exposures, SME loans (Adyen Capital), Charge Cards, and Overdraft facilities.
- Serve as the core escalation point for high-exposure and complex corporate deals.
- Drive the continuous improvement of global and US-specific credit risk underwriting and monitoring frameworks, ensuring alignment with Adyen’s defined risk appetite and strategic objectives.
- Partner with Product and Engineering to advance the automated underwriting process. Identify manual touchpoints to integrate AI-driven financial statement processing, automated credit limit setting, and rules-based triaging.
- Act as a key source of credit expertise across the business, working cooperatively with Commercial, Product, Legal, and Compliance to guarantee that credit risks are properly addressed in new commercial product developments.
- Interpret complex macro-economic and industry risk indicators to identify delinquency trends early and proactively refine policy parameters before material portfolio losses materialize.
- Develop clear governance frameworks for automated decisions to ensure transparency, auditability, and absolute alignment with U.S. regulatory guidelines (e.g., OCC and fair lending requirements). Prepare high-quality analysis for risk committee reports.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5+ years of commercial credit underwriting and portfolio management experience, preferably within high-volume fintech, digital lending, or fast-scaling banking environments. Strong analytical capability to interpret audited financial statements and determine capital capacity.
- Comfortable operating in an unstructured, fast-paced environment, actively building for automation and scalability. Passionate about shifting from manual, one-off credit reviews toward data-driven decisioning models.
- Solid familiarity and hands-on experience navigating U.S. regulatory frameworks and banking guidelines related to commercial credit risk (e.g., OCC guidelines) is highly preferred.
- A clear, straight-to-the-point communicator who can confidently translate complex risk considerations into action, handle sensitive client conversations, and constructively align with commercial stakeholders without acting as a rigid lecturer.
- Results-driven team player with a low-ego, high-accountability mindset who welcomes constructive challenge, acts as a mentor to junior analysts, and values shared success across regions and cultures.
