Senior Counsel - Biotech Patent Law

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Counsel - Biotech Patent Law to join the team of a leader in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech space. This role will lead global intellectual property strategy for therapeutics and play a key part in protecting innovations across the organization’s research and development efforts. The attorney will work closely with scientists, R&D teams, and business partners to identify patentable inventions, manage prosecution activity, and support strategic decisions that impact the company’s competitive position. The position also involves providing practical legal guidance on freedom-to-operate, due diligence, and IP terms in commercial agreements. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $250,321 – $338,670 annually Responsibilities Develop and execute global intellectual property strategy for therapeutics Identify patentable inventions in collaboration with scientists Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications worldwide Conduct prior art searches and analyze patents Provide freedom-to-operate opinions and conduct IP due diligence Assist in drafting and negotiating IP provisions of agreements Advise R&D and business partners on IP matters Qualifications J.D. or LL.M. degree from an accredited law school; admission to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office 6+ years of experience in patent or intellectual property law in biopharma or life sciences 10+ years preferred with specific experience in biotechnology IP Advanced degree preferred in a relevant life sciences field Strong analytical, legal drafting, and communication skills Management skills with a client service focus Benefits Comprehensive employee benefits package including health, dental, and vision coverage Retirement and savings plan with generous company contributions Discretionary annual bonus program Stock-based long-term incentives Award-winning time-off plans Flexible work models where possible Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
