Senior Counsel

About the role

This role will provide business-aligned guidance focused on governance, compliance, and operational risk management. You will partner with leaders, compliance stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate complex issues into practical recommendations. The position offers the opportunity to strengthen responsible execution, improve decision-making, and support sustainable growth within a regulated financial services environment.

Responsibilities

• Act as a main advisor for SME clients, collaborating with business units on strategic initiatives
• Provide legal advice on commercial and contractual matters, assessing business risks
• Work with internal experts to address regulatory compliance and privacy issues
• Support business development teams in product sales initiatives
• Draft and negotiate complex customer and vendor agreements, identifying legal risks
• Engage in strategic partnerships with digital partners
• Educate clients on regulatory changes, risks, and compliance processes
• Identify and implement process improvements to streamline operations

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer with at least 7 years of experience in relevant jurisdiction
• Strong transactional legal experience, preferably in-house or at a reputable law firm
• Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, capable of simplifying complex concepts
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills for effective interaction with internal clients and stakeholders
• Desirable: background in technology, banking regulations, AI governance, and open banking

Pay

$212,000 – $340,000 annually
